Patriot Resources secures major interest in copper-rich zone

Patriot Resources Ltd. is pleased to announce the acquisition of a 90% interest in a strategic licence within the broader Zambian Copperbelt – one of the world’s premier copper-producing regions, positioning the Company 17 km along strike from First Quantum Minerals and Mimosa Resources Fishtie/Kashime Copper Project. Licence 33543-HQ-LEL covers approximately 16.15 km² and is located about 12 km north of Mkushi.

The licence is interpreted to cover the south-western extension of the Lusale Basin mineralised corridor. The licence’s geological setting is favourable for copper hosted mineralisation, with the Lusale Basin being a Neoproterozoic sedimentary sub-basin. This is considered an eastern extension or satellite basin of the DRC/Zambian Central African Copperbelt.

Mineralised zones occur in the lower portion of the Nguba Group, a stratigraphic position above the units that host most deposits in the Zambian Copperbelt. This position is broadly equivalent to the stratigraphic setting of the Kamoa deposit in the southern Democratic Republic of Congo and the Lonshi deposit on the eastern edge of the Zambian Copperbelt. This places Patriot’s ground within a stratigraphic trend that hosts tier-1 scale copper mineralisation elsewhere, supporting discovery potential as the Company advances exploration activities.

Extensive regional and local exploration has been conducted across the basin, Patriot will focus on defining drill-ready targets within Licence 33543-HQ-LEL.

Licence location

  • 17 km Southwest of Fishtie/Kashime Copper deposit
  • Within the Lusale Basin considered an extension or satellite to the traditional DRC/ Zambian Copperbelt
  • 12 km North of Mkushi, and 90 km Southeast of Ndola (Copperbelt) providing access to infrastructure

Mineralisation style

Copper mineralisation is hosted within the Grand Conglomérat diamictite and siltstone, as well as the overlying Kakontwe Limestone, above basement schist and quartzite. High-angle normal faults appear to have influenced stratigraphic thickness, iron-rich replacement and the distribution of copper mineralisation.

Geological setting

Basement rocks are composed of a sequence of complexly deformed and metamorphosed sedimentary, volcanic and intrusive rocks. The belt is composed of schists of the Muva basement rocks, and gneiss, quartzite and phyllite belonging to the Mkushi Gneiss Complex. The metamorphic rocks are unconformably overlain by metasedimentary rocks belonging to the Katanga Supergroup. The Katanga Supergroup is an approximately 7km thick sequence of predominantly continental and marine derived metasedimentary rocks and minor intrusive rocks hosting the majority of the copper and cobalt deposits.

Strategic rationale

This acquisition reflects Patriot’s strong corporate and technical presence in Zambia. It complements the Company’s recent copper discovery at Tonic in Mumbwa, with both areas considered highly prospective for large-scale, shallow copper deposits.

Patriot is building a diversified project pipeline across copper, and silver, all of which remain in strong demand, leveraging its established technical team in country, led by Chief Geologist Eugene Gotora, Patriot can implement its cost-efficient exploration model targeting a Phase 1 drill program in Q3 2026.

Near-term exploration priorities include a Phase 2 drill program at the Tonic copper discovery, geophysics, mapping and Phase 1 drilling program at the new licence 33543 target and infill drilling at the high-grade Tassa silver deposit in Peru (subject to community agreement). Given the Company’s small team and focused allocation of resources, Patriot intends to continue with its divestment strategy in respect of the Gorman lithium project in Ontario, Canada.

Patriot now holds an enviable portfolio of projects across highly prospective jurisdictions.

Acquisition terms

Consideration to acquire a 90% interest in the licence from MNS Global World Import and Export Limited for US$50,000 and a 10% free carry, with US$20,000 paid on signature and the balance on completion.
