Patriot Resources completes initial site visit and mapping on newly acquired Zambian Licence
Patriot Resources Ltd. has successfully conducted its first site visit and reconnaissance geological mapping on Licence 33543-HQ-LEL, shortly after acquiring the licence on 29 July 2026. The licence, covering approximately 16.15 km², is located about 12 km north of Mkushi and lies around 17 km along strike from the Fishtie/Kashime copper deposit, owned by First Quantum Minerals and Mimosa Resources.
The primary goal of this initial program, carried out between 31 July and 3 August 2026, was to determine if the host stratigraphy and structural features observed at the Fishtie/Kashime deposit could be identified within Patriot’s newly acquired licence area. Early findings from the field mapping have revealed lithological and structural characteristics comparable to those known at Fishtie/Kashime.
Key geological observations support copper exploration potential
- Identification of a siliceous siltstone containing magnetite, ankerite, and apatite lenses, interpreted to be similar to the prospective lithological unit hosting the Fishtie/Kashime copper mineralisation.
- Observation of a limestone/dolomite cap at a historical small-scale lime mine within the licence, consistent with the regional stratigraphic model.
Dominic Duggan, Patriot’s Managing Director, stated: “Patriot’s Technical team, led by Chief Geologist Eugene Gotora, have been on the ground at Mkushi within days of announcing the acquisition of Licence 33543-HQ-LEL. We have mapped what we interpret to be the surface expression of the Fishtie-style mineralisation within our licence. That is a fast start on ground we acquired for a modest upfront cost, and it sets up a clear pathway to target definition and Phase 1 drilling.”
These initial results suggest that the licence covers the southwestern extension of the Lusale Basin mineralised corridor, presenting promising opportunities for copper exploration. The newly mapped lithological units and structural architecture provide a strong foundation for defining exploration targets moving forward.
Building on this promising start, Patriot Resources plans to advance towards detailed target definition and initiate Phase 1 drilling to further evaluate the copper potential within Licence 33543-HQ-LEL. This exploration effort aligns with the company’s strategy to expand its footprint in the mineral-rich Mkushi region and capitalize on its proximity to established deposits.
