A new chapter for Imwelo Gold Project
Lake Victoria Gold Ltd., through its local subsidiary Tembo Gold (T) Limited, has secured official approval from Tanzania’s Mining Commission to appoint City Engineering Company Ltd. as the main contractor for the Imwelo Gold Project. This marks a pivotal moment as the project moves closer to construction after years of planning.
The partnership between City Engineering Company Ltd. and Sutton Consulting International Limited combines local expertise with international technical support. This collaboration ensures that engineering, procurement, and construction management efforts are led by Tanzanian professionals while benefiting from global mining experience. The project now operates under a unified framework that respects Tanzania’s Mining (Local Content) Regulations, emphasizing local participation and leadership.
As Imwelo advances through final engineering and procurement stages, the team is also preparing for construction with ongoing work on infrastructure design, mine planning, and quality assurance. Financing efforts continue alongside, with plans for a gold loan facility to support development. The company’s CEO, Marc Cernovitch, expressed optimism, highlighting the importance of compliance and cooperation with local regulations to ensure the project’s success.
