Makor Resources, a Zambia-focused copper-led critical minerals exploration, development and processing company, is pleased to announce significant progress in advancing its integrated resource development strategy following its previously announced US$30 million investment commitment into Zambia’s mining sector.
Since announcing its investment commitment, Makor has continued to execute its strategy of building a scalable, copper-focused mineral development platform centred on exploration growth, strategic resource consolidation, downstream processing infrastructure, and long-term value creation within Zambia’s globally significant mining sector.
The Company’s recent advancements include strategic expansion across Zambia’s Central Province and Copperbelt regions, progress toward establishing a regional copper processing platform in Mkushi District, advancement of environmental assessment activities, strengthened stakeholder engagement frameworks, and completion of an international corporate structure designed to support future growth initiatives and institutional investment participation.
“Makor is continuing to execute against a clear strategy of building a copper-led resource platform in Zambia with the scale, infrastructure, and partnerships required for long-term development,” said Brooke Bibeault, Chief Executive Officer of Makor Resources. “Our approach is centred on building scale through regional consolidation – securing strategic positions within prospective copper districts and developing the infrastructure pathways required to unlock multiple resource opportunities over time. We believe this district-scale approach creates a stronger foundation for long-term value creation than advancing individual projects in isolation.”
Building a scalable copper platform across Zambia’s premier copper regions
Makor has secured exploration exclusivity over two Large Scale Exploration Licences in Mkushi District, Central Province, significantly expanding its strategic mineral portfolio within one of Zambia’s most prospective emerging copper corridors.
The licences are strategically positioned within the broader Mkushi copper corridor, adjacent to and surrounding significant copper development assets, including First Quantum Minerals’ Kashime Copper Project and Mimosa Resources’ Fishtie Copper Project. The portfolio provides Makor with exposure to a region characterised by established copper occurrences, historical exploration activity, significant geological potential, and increasing development interest.
Initial geological interpretation across one of the licence areas has identified potential mineralisation continuity, supporting further technical evaluation, exploration targeting, and assessment of the broader resource potential within Makor’s Mkushi portfolio.
In addition, Makor has secured exploration exclusivity over prospective ground in Kitwe, strengthening the Company’s presence across Zambia’s two premier copper regions — the Copperbelt and Central Province.
Together, these strategic acquisitions reinforce Makor’s objective of developing a copper-led critical minerals platform with exposure across multiple stages of the mining lifecycle, from exploration and resource growth through to downstream processing opportunities and future participation in Zambia’s broader critical minerals value chain.
Advancing a strategic copper processing platform in Mkushi
As part of its integrated development strategy, Makor is advancing plans for a strategically located mineral processing platform within its Mkushi portfolio.
The proposed facility is designed to address a significant infrastructure opportunity within the Mkushi copper district, where future mineral development will require additional regional processing capacity to support production growth, domestic beneficiation, and increased value retention within Zambia.
Makor has identified and secured a strategic area for the advancement of a proposed Mineral Processing Licence application, with the location selected following consideration of geological opportunity, infrastructure access, environmental sensitivity, and long-term regional development requirements.
Importantly, the proposed processing location has been selected outside environmentally sensitive areas, including national protected forest areas, reflecting Makor’s commitment to responsible mineral development and its belief that Zambia’s mineral growth must be balanced with protection of critical environmental assets, agricultural landscapes, and water catchment areas.
The proposed modular processing facility is being advanced based on an initial conceptual design of approximately 1,000 tonnes per day throughput capacity, incorporating flotation and filtration circuits, with a planned expansion pathway to approximately 2,000 tonnes per day following successful operational ramp-up.
Through this strategy, Makor aims to establish a scalable regional processing platform capable of supporting multiple potential ore sources within the broader Mkushi copper corridor while creating the foundation for future participation in Zambia’s evolving critical minerals processing ecosystem.
“The value of a mineral district is ultimately determined by more than individual discoveries; it is shaped by how effectively resources can be consolidated, developed, and supported by the right infrastructure,” said Ricus Grimbeek, Executive Chairman of Makor Resources. “Makor’s strategy is focused on building control and optionality across prospective copper districts – integrating geological understanding, resource growth, infrastructure planning, and processing capability to create a more efficient pathway from discovery through development.”
Advancing environmental approvals and stakeholder partnerships
Makor continues to advance its responsible development framework through early-stage environmental assessment and structured stakeholder engagement.
The Company has received approval from the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (“ZEMA”) for the Terms of Reference supporting the Environmental Impact Assessment process for activities within its Mkushi project area.
The environmental assessment process will now be expanded to incorporate the proposed mineral processing development, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of potential environmental and social considerations as the project advances.
Makor’s development approach is centred on collaboration, transparency, and long-term stakeholder alignment. The Company has commenced structured engagement with key stakeholders, including traditional leadership, community representatives, agricultural stakeholders, water users, and industry associations.
Makor is working toward establishing collaborative frameworks and memoranda of understanding with relevant stakeholders to support ongoing communication, alignment, and shared decision-making throughout the development process.
The Company believes that successful mineral development is built through early engagement, responsible environmental management, and enduring partnerships with host communities and stakeholders.
Strengthening corporate structure for future growth
Makor has completed the establishment of its Canadian holding company structure, which now owns 100% of Makor Resources’ Zambian operations.
This milestone strengthens Makor’s corporate framework as the Company continues advancing its strategy to build an internationally investable copper-led critical minerals exploration, development, and processing platform.
The structure provides a foundation to support future strategic partnerships, institutional investment participation, and access to global capital markets as Makor progresses its portfolio of assets in Zambia.
With a growing portfolio across Zambia’s Copperbelt and Central Province regions, advancing exploration programmes, a strategic processing pathway, and a disciplined approach to responsible development, Makor is positioning itself as an emerging copper-led resource company within one of the world’s most prospective mineral jurisdictions.
Positioning Makor for the next phase of growth
Makor Resources is focused on developing an integrated copper-led critical minerals platform that combines exploration success, strategic infrastructure development, responsible environmental practices, and stakeholder-led project advancement.
Anchored by Zambia’s globally significant copper endowment, Makor’s strategy is focused on the systematic consolidation and advancement of high-quality mineral opportunities across prospective geological terrains, while maintaining strategic flexibility to participate in Zambia’s broader critical minerals supply chain.
Following the Company’s previously announced US$30 million investment commitment into Zambia, these developments represent continued execution against Makor’s strategy to build a differentiated resource company positioned within one of the world’s most important mineral jurisdictions.
Makor remains committed to advancing responsible copper and critical minerals development in Zambia while creating long-term value for shareholders, partners, communities, and stakeholders.
