Akobo Minerals’ golden milestone in Ethiopia

In June 2026, Akobo Minerals AB, a Scandinavian gold producer working in Ethiopia, reached an exciting milestone. The company reported its strongest quarterly gold production since it began operations, delivering a promising outlook for the future.

Throughout the month, Akobo’s mining and processing activities ran smoothly without any interruptions, especially from fuel shortages. The team focused on developing a crucial vertical shaft and its sub-shaft, progressing steadily. Observations suggest the shaft is now moving into the hard rock zone, which is expected to speed up development and improve efficiency.

The highlights of this period were impressive: Akobo produced approximately 10 kg of doré gold in June alone, contributing to a total of about 37 kg in the second quarter. Since starting, the company has accumulated around 134 kg of gold. Additionally, there remains a stockpile of roughly 650 tonnes of lower-grade material ready for future processing.

This progress marks a significant chapter in Akobo Minerals’ journey, showing steady growth and operational strength as it continues to unlock Ethiopia’s gold potential.
