Apollo Minerals advances exploration at Kroussou after identifying potential high-grade zinc, lead feeder structures

Apollo Minerals Ltd. is advancing the discovery and development of large-scale, near-surface resources at the Kroussou Zinc-Lead Project in Gabon.
The company’s exploration work has validated the province-scale potential at Kroussou by identifying 150 zinc-lead mineral occurrences over more than 80 kilometres of strike length of prospective geology to date.
Notably, the potential for further discovery at Kroussou is immense; of 18 identified target prospects (TP), only four have been drill tested to date.
The shallow nature of the zinc-lead mineralisation being intersected (average depth < 20m) indicates the low-cost development and mining potential at the project.
Apollo’s initial metallurgical test work on the Kroussou zinc-lead mineralisation has demonstrated the potential for high-grade clean concentrates with strong recoveries of both zinc and lead.
Apollo recently discovered a new form of mineralisation in drilling at the TP13 regional target.
Semi-massive and disseminated style zinc and lead sulphides have been visually identified from near-surface intercepts in multiple drill holes completed at TP13.
Managing director Neil Inwood said following the discovery: “The new style of mineralisation observed at Target Prospect 13 is a game-changing discovery.
“We interpret these new mineralised zones to represent primary feeder structures for high-grade zinc and lead.”
Apollo has planned a detailed exploration program at Kroussou, including:
- analysis of assay results (once received) from regional drilling and targeting at TP13 and TP8;
- analysis of results from the recently completed AEM survey which covered ~430 square kilometres, across the whole 80km strike length of prospective geology of the Kroussou project area. The AEM survey has the potential to highlight further shallow high-grade mineralisation as displayed at Dikaki and Niamabimbou;
- field exploration to identify new zones of mineralisation at other defined prospects/regional targets through mapping, rock sampling and soil geochemistry;
- analysis of results from the passive regional seismic program at TP13, TP9, TP8 and TP4;
- metallurgical test work to confirm positive high-recovery, high-quality sulphide concentrate production; and
- high-level analysis of regional infrastructure options for materials transport.
Metallurgical test work is ongoing utilising the 500kg of HQ diamond core from Dikaki for flow-sheet test work (flotation, variability, comminution) being undertaken by Independent Metallurgical Operations Pty Ltd (IMO) in Perth.
Apollo will undertake the work program based on results as received with a strong commitment to all aspects of sustainable development and responsible mining, with an integrated approach to economic, social, environmental, health and safety management.
