EPC Mineex Sénégal, a subsidiary of the global leader in explosives and blasting services, EPC Groupe, has announced the signing of a significant five-year contract valued at approximately €50 million with Endeavour Mining to supply explosives and integrated blasting services for the Sabodala gold mine. This prestigious operation is one of the largest gold mining projects in West Africa.
The contract, effective immediately, encompasses the complete blasting value chain across the Sabodala mining complex, which includes the production, delivery, and on-site execution of blasting services. Over the duration of the agreement, EPC Mineex Sénégal is slated to produce and deploy nearly 45,000 tons of explosives to enhance extraction activities.
Key components of the contract include the establishment and management of an on-site emulsion manufacturing plant, as well as the oversight of raw material inventories. The services will also take charge of loading, initiation, and blasting operations, demonstrating EPC’s commitment to providing comprehensive technical and operational support.
In a first for the Senegalese market, the contract will deploy specialized equipment for underground mining operations. This includes two mobile explosives manufacturing units and five automated SPUR underground charging systems. Additionally, EPC Groupe will utilize proprietary software for post-blast analysis and optimization services to improve blast performance, operational efficiency, and environmental control.
Emphasizing a commitment to local content, EPC Mineex Sénégal aims to maximize local engagement through on-site facilities and dedicated teams. This approach aligns with Senegal’s local content development objectives, fostering skills transfer and value creation for nearby communities.
“This new contract strengthens our strategic positioning in West Africa and enhances our visibility in terms of activity levels for the coming years,” said a representative from EPC Groupe. “Our partnership with Endeavour Mining underscores our ability to mobilize full technical, industrial, and operational expertise for mining development across the region.”
