Lake Victoria Gold Ltd. is excited to announce impressive assay results from recent HQ diamond drilling at its fully permitted Imwelo Gold Project in Tanzania. Highlights include 28.71 g/t gold over 2.75 metres starting at 21 metres depth in hole IMWDR029 and 12.20 g/t gold over 4.5 metres from 32 metres in hole IMWDR028, demonstrating strong near-surface mineralization.
The standout intervals contain individual quartz-vein samples with exceptionally high grades of up to 142.90 g/t and 124.83 g/t gold, respectively. These results come from Area C, the planned initial open-pit mining zone, within a shallow, weathered mineralized sequence that will support detailed mine planning and grade control.
Key Highlights
- 28.71 g/t Au over 2.75 m from 21.00 m in hole IMWDR029, including 59.77 g/t Au over 1.30 m, highlighted by a 0.50 m quartz-vein sample grading 142.90 g/t Au.
- 12.20 g/t Au over 4.50 m from 32.00 m in hole IMWDR028, including 27.94 g/t Au over 1.90 m, with a 0.40 m quartz-vein sample returning 124.83 g/t Au.
- Mineralization is shallow, starting at just 21 metres and 32 metres respectively, within weathered saprolitic and quartz-vein material at Area C.
- A comprehensive metallurgical testwork program is underway, led by Nesch Mintech Tanzania Limited, to evaluate treatment options for the clay-rich weathered ore, including possible clay removal through scrubbing and screening.
- Results will directly support the finalization of the Area C process flowsheet, plant configuration, treatment rates, and detailed mine scheduling and pit design.
This metallurgical program aims to optimize recovery from the weathered ore, ensuring the most efficient processing route for the near-surface gold mineralization. The data generated will be essential for refining development plans and enhancing operational confidence.
Lake Victoria Gold Ltd. remains committed to advancing the Imwelo Gold Project with a focus on maximizing value from this high-grade, accessible resource. Further updates will follow as the development planning progresses and additional assay and metallurgical results are received.
Marc Cernovitch, President & CEO of Lake Victoria Gold, commented: “These results reinforce the high grade, near surface character of Area C, and the metallurgical program now underway addresses a key input to our flowsheet design. Confirming how the clay rich surface mineralized material behaves, alongside the strong recoveries already established for our sulphide and transitional mineralized material, supports sound plant design decisions and keeps our focus on disciplined capital and execution on the path to first gold.”
