RMB Namibia has appointed Rehabeam “Ray” Auala Jr as Head of Global Markets, effective 1st June 2026, at a time when businesses are looking for increasingly sophisticated support to manage financial risk and access opportunities across local and international markets.

The appointment reflects the bank’s focus on growing its Global Markets business as demand for market and risk management solutions continues to grow. RMB has seen growth in foreign exchange volumes, increased demand for risk management solutions or more clients accessing capital markets, as noted in the Bank of Namibia Annual Report 2025. Against this backdrop, RMB Namibia continues to strengthen its Global Markets capability, helping clients manage financial risk, access markets and navigate an increasingly dynamic investment environment.

Auala’s career with the FirstRand Namibia Group spans more than 12 years. He joined the organisation as a bursary student and has since built experience across Financial Accounting, Treasury and Global Markets, most recently leading RMB Namibia’s Trade and Execution Desk. That breadth of experience, combined with his understanding of clients and financial markets, positions him well to lead one of the bank’s most specialised businesses.

He holds an Honours degree from the University of Cape Town with majors in Economics, Accounting and Finance. He has also completed specialist financial markets and leadership programmes, including ACI Dealing and the CFA Programme.

RMB Namibia Chief Executive Officer Daniel Motinga said the appointment reflected both Auala ‘s contribution to the business and the bank’s confidence in the depth of talent it continues to develop. “Global Markets is a business built on judgement, technical expertise and trust. Ray has earned the confidence of colleagues and clients through his ability to understand markets, make sound decisions and lead with humility. Just as importantly, he shares our belief that strong financial markets contribute to a stronger economy, and that makes him the right person to lead this business into its next chapter.”

Outside his role, Auala serves on the RMB Corporate Social Investment Committee and on the boards of several non-profit organisations, reflecting his commitment to developing people and strengthening communities.

Commenting on his appointment, Auala said, “Namibian businesses are operating in a world where market conditions can change quickly and opportunities often extend beyond our borders. Our role is to help clients respond with confidence, giving them access to the insight and market solutions they need to manage risk, make informed decisions and grow their businesses. I’m looking forward to working with our clients and our teams as we continue building a Global Markets business that supports both their ambitions and the continued development of Namibia’s financial sector.”

The appointment forms part of RMB Namibia’s ongoing focus on investing in specialist expertise that helps clients respond to changing market conditions with confidence. As Namibia’s economy continues to evolve, the bank remains focused on providing the advice, market access and financial solutions businesses need to compete, invest and grow.
