Toubani bolsters management team for Kobada Gold progress
Toubani Resources Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of several highly experienced executives to its leadership team, strengthening the Company’s management team as it advances the Kobada Gold Project towards production.
Chief Financial Officer
Toubani is pleased to advise that it has appointed highly experienced finance executive, Mark Somlyay as Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”).
Mark Somlyay is a finance and commercial executive with more than 25 years’ of mining experience, much of it developing greenfield gold projects in West Africa for ASX-listed companies.
He joins Toubani from Aura Energy Limited, where he served as Chief Financial Officer, and previously held CFO roles with ASX-listed gold developer Chesser Resources Limited, which was acquired by Fortuna Silver Mines in 2023. Prior to this, Mr Somlyay was Finance Director – Australia for Agnico Eagle Mines Limited and held senior finance and commercial positions with Barrick Gold, Newcrest Mining and Perseus Mining. During his time with Perseus, he played a key role in the development and financing of the Sissingué and Yaouré gold mines in Côte d’Ivoire. Mr Somlyay currently serves as Chair of the Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group, is a Certified Practising Accountant, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland.
Operations Director
Toubani is pleased to advise that it has appointed Kerry Griffin to the executive role of Operations Director for the Company.
Mr Griffin brings more than 30 years of international mining experience across Australasia, Africa, the Americas and Asia, with extensive expertise in mine operations, project development, technical services, resource development and exploration. Since joining Toubani in 2022, Kerry has played a key role in advancing the Project through leadership of the Company’s technical services, Mineral Resources and exploration functions. His appointment as Operations Director reflects his significant contribution to the Project and his expanding responsibilities in project development, operational readiness and the establishment of Kobada’s operational capabilities.
General Manager – Kobada Gold Project
Toubani is pleased to advise that it has appointed international mining executive Riaan Lombard as General Manager for the Kobada Gold Project.
Riaan is a seasoned mining executive with more than 30 years of international experience across Africa and South America, spanning mine construction, operations, project development and operational improvement. He has held senior leadership positions with Resolute Mining, where he served as Group Operations Manager and Project Director overseeing operating assets and growth projects across West Africa, as well as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Caracal Gold PLC, leading gold operations and development projects in Kenya and Tanzania. Riaan has also held key operational roles with AngloGold Ashanti in Mali and IAMGOLD in Suriname. As General Manager, he will lead the Kobada Gold Project as it transitions from construction into commercial production, with overall responsibility for the safe and successful delivery of site operations.
