Oriole Resources advances ownership in Cameroon’s Mbe gold project to 50%

Oriole Resources PLC, a gold exploration and development company listed on AIM, has taken a significant step forward in its flagship Mbe orogenic gold project located in Cameroon. This update follows the recent corporate restructuring, which formalizes Oriole’s increased ownership stake in the project to 50%.
The Mbe project, which boasts a JORC Inferred Mineral Resource Estimate of 1.23 million ounces of contained gold across key deposits, represents a cornerstone asset for Oriole in Central Africa. The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Martin Rosser, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition of an additional 10% interest from local partners, reflecting a strengthened partnership and commitment to advancing exploration and development activities in Cameroon.
Since 2021, Oriole has expanded its licence portfolio in central Cameroon, including several contiguous licences known collectively as the Central Licence Package. Ownership structures within these licences have involved local partners holding a minority interest, with provisions for free carry until certain resource milestones are met. The recent restructuring and acquisition formalize Oriole’s majority position, while preserving local partners’ rights to a royalty and a share in future resource payments.
Oriole’s collaboration with strategic partner BCM has also been pivotal, as BCM earned a 50% beneficial interest in the Mbe project through exploration expenditure and milestone payments. Joint venture agreements are in the works to solidify these partnerships and streamline project governance.
In summary, Oriole Resources’ strengthened ownership and collaborative approach with local and strategic partners underscore its confidence in the Mbe project’s potential. This consolidation not only enhances Oriole’s control but also positions the company well for advancing exploration and eventual development, contributing to the growing gold mining landscape in Cameroon.
